The Ralston Cider Mill Museum illuminates the last authentic vestige of New Jersey’s once thriving cider and applejack industry. The restored mill operates with its original equipment and demonstrates the process of making cider using water power and distributing power via belts and pulleys.
Volunteers are the power source that makes the Ralston Cider Mill Museum run. If you are interested in learning more about the mill and helping share a unique educational experience with the public, we need your help! All new volunteers will be trained to guide visitors through the grounds, to operate the machinery, and to share local history with the public. It is rewarding, interesting, and easy to become a part of the Ralston Cider Mill’s story.
The mill is open by appointment, with most visits in the spring and the fall. It is popular with individuals of all ages, families, school classes, and adult tour groups. One day each October, the machinery is used to press apples and make fresh apple cider.
